Burn PaperGate Documents to CD

The CD burning procedure when the CD is to be given to a third party is as follows

Preparing the staging area

1. Create a partition on your hard drive that is at least 650 megs - Staging Area.
2. Give the staging area a volume label that is suitable to the database - e.g. The name of the database followed by a one - Accounts1.
3. In the staging area create a directory called Database.

When Creating The Database

(Use the following steps only if the database has not yet been created!!!!)

4. Add the staging drive letter to the to the Shared drive list under File/Application setup.
5. When creating the database make sure that the database will be stored on the staging drive.
6. Document Path should also point to the staging drive
7. It is recommended that the images be stored in the same path as the Database, e.g.
Accounts1:\Database\ "database path"
Accounts1:\Database\AR\ "image Files"

Copying Files

8. Then copy the contents of the PGCD disks to the root of the staging area.
9. Delete the file setup.pkg.
10. Rename setupcd.pkg to setup.pkg.
11. Edit the PG.INF File.
12. The first line will have a number "1" by itself and the second line will contain the database name followed by a pipe symbol "|" and the title of the database
e.g: "database name"|Title of Database.

The PG.INF will look like this

1
AR|Acounts Receivable Database

The directory structure will look like this:

Accounts1:\"contains setup files"
Accounts1:\DataBase\AR\

(AR is the name of the database)

After the staging area is completed you are ready to burn a CD

Preparing PaperGate and the Database for copying

13. Open PaperGate
14. Go to File/Application Setup
15. Add the staging volume drive letter to the shared drive list
16. Open the database to be copied and go to File/Document/Path
17. Hit Alt +M and the Document Path Modify Window will show up
18. Modify the document paths to include the volume name of the staging area to the Document Path.
19. Copy the ENTIRE directory of the database to the DATABASE directory on the staging drive and also copy the images.
20. Make sure the directory structure always stays in tact and that it follows the document path exactly.
For Instance: if the document path says Accounts1:\docs\disk1\
Then the directory structure in the staging area should have the documents in that same format.
If the images are located with the database in the same directory then it is ok to copy over the database directory.
