document management and archiving software

Our History

Digital Filing Systems (DFS) has a rich history of successful document management. Our clients' trust spans several product names and decades of development.

Origins

ImageTech was originally founded as a software development company in 1988. The professional team was responsible for developing and marketing imaging applications for one of the first developers of hand-held scanners. Their employer, Ovonic Imaging Systems, changed direction to focus on liquid crystal display panels so the team formed ImageTech, acquired the rights to the software and shipped their first product, Marvin, in December 1988. About the same time, Fujitsu introduced the very first scanner followed by Cannon. They were the first to work with scanner drivers and the first to demo document management software at trade shows.

The Insight

The founder of ImageTech is Dr. Harish Verma. He was the leader in negotiating the acquisition of the software, forming the team into a partnership, and structuring the company. His knowledge of computers stems from his educational background in engineering and quantitative aspects of business - and as a user.

Development

Development in the 90s produced an advanced 16 bit document management software named PaperGate™. This new flagship product was used world wide from corporations to governments and set the standard for document management. The company and team were acquired by Digital Filing Systems in the mid 90s and continued to do business as ImageTech. Development and customer feedback fueled the PaperGate™ product through 6 versions in the 90s.

In the late 90s development began on the 32 bit ProFile document management and workflow application. DFS continued to set the pace for document management by rolling all the experience of the first two products into the latest application. ProFile was released in 2000. Continued development and customer feedback has made the product what it is today.

In the early 00s, ProFile development produced a variation for the Insurance Industry that offers transmission of critical workflow documents between corporations over the internet.
